Eye screening is an essential part of diabetes care to check for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it’s not detected early and if necessary treated. Everyone with diabetes aged 12 and over is entitled to have their eyes checked once a year.
EMIS Care already provides diabetic eye screening services to people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire as Medical Imaging UK but from 1 April 2016 the service will deliver a standardised screening model to include Coventry and Warwickshire.
The new integrated model will provide services as the ‘Arden, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.’
On 1 April 2016 Medical Imaging UK ltd will also be rebranding as EMIS Care. There will be no changes to the proposed delivery of the service.
A tailored communications plan has been created to ensure stakeholders and service users are kept informed of the rebrand and transition to the new integrated screening model.
