    Lancashire: Important update about diabetic eye screening services

    From April 2017, people with diabetes in North Lancashire and Blackpool area will benefit from a new diabetic eye screening service. NHS England has awarded EMIS Care the contracts to deliver diabetic eye screening in the areas of East Lancashire, Preston, Chorley, South Ribble, Cumbria, North Lancashire, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

    New Eye Diabetic Screening Provider in Surrey

    From April 2017, people with diabetes in Surrey will benefit from a new diabetic eye screening provider. NHS England has awarded EMIS Care the contracts to deliver the diabetic eye screening service in Surrey. The mobilisation period has begun and the provider will be working to ensure a smooth transition. We will be keeping patients and key stakeholders informed of any changes throughout the mobilisation

    On 1 April 2017, the Bradford & Airedale, Calderdale & South Kirklees Diabetic Eye Screening Programmes (DESP) and the Craven area of the North Yorkshire & York DESP are merging to create the West Riding & Craven Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.

    A Seamless Transition for the Diabetic Eye Screening Service in Plymouth

    From April 2017, people with diabetes in the Plymouth will benefit from a new diabetic eye screening provider. Eye screening is an essential part of diabetes care to check for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it is not detected early and treated. Everyone aged 12 and over with diabetes is invited to attend once a year.

    Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire: Important information about diabetic eye screening services

    From April local diabetic eye screening services are merging together to run as a larger programme. From 1 April 2017 the Swindon Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (DESP) and the South Wiltshire population of the Salisbury & North Hampshire DESP will become part of the new Bath & North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon & Wiltshire DESP.
