Surrey Diabetic Eye Screening Programme

Eye screening is a key part of diabetes care to check for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it's not detected early and treated. Everyone aged 12 and over with diabetes receives an invitation to this service once a year.

From 1 April 2017 the Surrey diabetic eye screening programme will have a new service provider. NHS England has appointed EMIS Care to deliver the diabetic eye screening programme on their behalf.

What does this mean?

  • How you are screened and what happens in your appointment will not change.
  • Your screening appointment invites and results will continue to be sent to you and your GP.
  • EMIS Care aims to run the service in its current form, maintaining its high standards and implementing some improvements to give you the best service possible.
